I was honored to be the artist-in-residence at the Kevin O’Grady School in Beverly as part of a grant opportunity through Young Audiences of Massachusetts. I worked with five groups of students with developmental and medical needs as they explored color and painted a variety of papers that were then collaged together to create an interactive artwork. Also included is a “handprint” cut from artwork made by every student in the school. Inspired by the school mascot, the Chameleon, the artwork welcomes all to the school and shares the idea that we all change and adapt while remaining bright and colorful. Students can engage with the art and turn it gently to watch the chameleon change colors.

Many thanks to all the students and teachers at Kevin O’Grady for partnering on this project, and especially to Tom Miller, Gail Zarren, and Monique Bourgault, Facilities Director, and installer extraordinaire.
