Freedom Poetry Art Workshops, 2019
Jewish Arts Collaborative
I was commissioned by JArts to design and facilitate a series of art workshops exploring freedom and poetry as part of National Poetry Month in April 2019. The workshops engaged 66 diverse multigenerational participants who created artwork across the Greater Boston Area. They explored Yehuda Amichai's Poem Without an End and then shared that which gives them strength in their hearts that helps them feel free. Participants included older adults from the Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph, teens from Nobles and Greenough School in Dedham, 4th graders and their parents at the Jewish Community Day School in Watertown, Jewish young adults from the Moishe House in Cambridge, and adults in recovery from substance addiction in the Latino community at Casa Experanza in Roxbury. Each participant had a unique response to the poem. View all 66 works on Facebook.
